I know, I know. I’m supposed to be on a blog break. Hear me out.

As part of my epic summer theme, the #ImNotWashedWorldTour, I’m not only traveling and getting out of the house more often, I’m getting out of my comfort zone. Trying some new things.

Like participating in a walk to raise money for a cause near and dear to my heart: mental health.

On September 16, 2017, I will lace up my Nikes to trek 2.5 miles for NAMIWalks, an annual fund raiser for the Cleveland chapter of the National Alliance for Mental Illness.

Most of you know my story: I struggle with bouts of major depressive disorder. I survived a suicide attempt in 2008 and have learned to effectively manage my depression for the last nine years. My recovery is the direct result of stellar mental health care professionals and increasing awareness of and compassion for those living with mental illness.

Through their support, education, and advocacy, NAMI makes the world a safer, more welcoming place for people like me who just need the right kind of help to live and thrive.

Friends, family, fans of the blog, those of you who randomly stumbled into my corner of the Internet, please help me support this worthy cause. I’m new to this fundraising thing, so I’m starting small. $100.00 goal. Your donations, however small or large, are greatly appreciated.
